This is a website solely designated to my rapid weightloss following Gastric Bypass Surgery.
I had my surgery on August 24th 2005, which was also my 30th birthday. You may think it weird that I chose to have major surgery on my birthday, but I have to tell you that I could not imagine spending my 30th birthday anywhere else. I look at as being reborn into my new life.
I made my decision on June 26, 2005 when I went to the Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti Michigan and met Dr Poplawski. He expalined the procedure and the afterlife and he made me feel so validated and comfortable. It took only 6 weeks from that consultation for me to get my OHIP approval and just 2 months to have my surgery.
I am now 12 days past surgery. I was fortunate to have had the laproscopic procedure. I made it through with flying colours. In the words of the nurses I was a model patient. Up and out of bed 4 hours after and taking very little pain medications. I was very lucky to have very little pain. I went home two days post surgery and was told that if I lived closer I would have gone home the day after surgery. I am happy to report that I had no complications and my "pokey holes" all six of them are healing well. I have lost 20 pounds and I feel great.
I know that weightloss surgery is not for everyone, but I can tell you that for me this surgery is the perfect tool for me. It is not a miracle. It is hard work and this last 12 days has been tough. I am now on a diet of full liquids and will be for about 9 more days. Which means puddings, yogarts, milk, protein shakes, fudgesicles as long as there is less than 2 grams of sugar I am ok to eat it. On the 14th of Sept I will be starting pureed foods for 2 weeks . I think that will be the most difficult because honestly the thought of pureeing my roast beef makes me sick, but I can have mashed potatoes and applesauce so guess what I will living on for 2 weeks? LOL. Really though I can't complain, this will last 6 weeks and then I will be ready to have regular foods. Just very small amounts of it and nothing with added sugar and high fat. I think I can live with that. There are alot of no sugar added options and splenda can be used to make anything where sugar is normally used.
In about 11 months I should be at my goal. Then I just have to wait 1 year after that and I can start trying to get pregnant.
My husband goes for his surgery on Sept 8th and my mom on Sept 13th. It's a family affair. We will be so healthy.
I will be updating frequently and will be adding pictures since for my 30th birthday I also recieved a digital camera. I just have to get organized and I will be all set.
On another note I am also happy to report that I will running another Sparks unit. They opened a Saturday unit so that I could come back and I am so excited. My mom is going to help me with it. I can't wait.
